Required qualifications include advanced degrees in geosciences or engineering with at least 10 years of work experience, with heavy emphasis on environmental consulting for private sector clients. In addition, this candidate will have training and experience with groundwater contamination, contaminant fate and transport, and site investigation/remediation. Entry-level Environmental Engineer/Scientist/Hydrogeologist

GSI Environmental Inc., has an immediate opening for an entry-level Geologist or Environmental Engineer/Scientist in our Houston, Texas office. This position entails conducting field investigations and assisting the project team in evaluation and reporting field investigation results under the direction of a senior professional.

Duties included:
  • Supporting preparation of technical documents, including quality assurance project plans, monitoring/sampling plans, health and safety plans, field records, and regulatory reports
  • Performing assignments requiring application of standardized techniques procedures and criteria
  • Performing field observations and sampling of environmental media (soil, groundwater, soil vapor, sediment, etc.)
  • Compiling and evaluating technical data and coordinating with laboratories
  • Managing environmental data and databases

    Mid-Level Compliance Specialist

    GSI has an immediate opening in its Irvine, California office for a Mid-Level Engineer/Scientist to support our environmental compliance practice. The selected individual will have excellent growth opportunities and be a part of our expanding business in California.

    Duties include:  
    • Preparing technical documents, plans, permit applications, and reports for a variety of environmental programs (e.g., wastewater, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, air quality, storm water, and SPCC programs);
    • Performing environmental compliance reviews/ audits of industrial, municipal and construction sites;
    • Completing detailed environmental regulatory analysis; and
    • Organizing and conducting environmental compliance trainings for clients.

    Qualifications/Requirements:
    • 3 or more years of applied experience;
    • A Master's degree or higher in engineering or environmental science with an environmental engineering/sciences emphasis;

    Duties include:
    • Preparing technical documents, plans, permit applications, and reports for a variety of filed programs;
    • Performing assigned field work and data collection activities;
    • Providing technical support for hydrogeologic and remedial investigations, hydrogeologic testing, groundwater monitoring programs, and surface water monitoring programs;
    • Data manipulation /analysis in spreadsheets, databases, and GIS;
    • Writing reports and correspondence for projects; and

    Required Qualifications include:
    • Masters’ degree or higher in hydrogeology, geology, hydrology, or water resources engineering;

The ideal candidate will have experience designing and executing site characterization project, including developing work scopes and budgets, managing internal staff and subcontractors, and communicating (written and oral) with clients and other stake-holders. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills to support growth in our Oakland office and our overall California practice.

    Duties include:
    • Directing and managing small to moderate sized multi-disciplined projects, such as Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
    • Developing technical approaches for completing site characterization activities
    • Preparing written proposals, managing project budgets, and communicating with client and project stakeholders
    • Developing standard operating procedures for field sampling and training programs for field professionals
    • Providing technical training and support to junior staff to ensure field tasks are completed with precision and consistency
    • Working directly with clients to identify specific project needs and communicating results
    • Working independently, directing junior staff with 0 to 5 years of experience, and soliciting senior input as needed
