DOE Awards Two Major Projects to GSI to Quantify Methane Emissions from Natural Gas Infrastructure

GSI Environmental Inc. and their team members, Utah State University, Colorado State University and the Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC), have been awarded two DOE NETL projects to employ novel combinations of complementary measurement methods and technologies to detect and quantify methane emissions from i) natural gas compressors and pipelines at boosting stations in the gathering segment, and ii) natural gas storage wells and fields.  Methane emissions factors will be developed in order to refine and improve EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Inventory (GHGI).
