Thomas McHugh Authors Viewpoint on use of Flux Chambers

Dr. Thomas McHugh is the corresponding author on “Flux Chamber Measurements Should Play a More Important Role in Contaminated Site Management” recently published in Environmental Science and Technology. This viewpoint article discusses specific situations where flux chamber measurements may provide more useful site investigation results than conventional soil gas measurements. These include undeveloped brownfield sites, evaluation of natural attenuation rates and mechanisms, and vapor intrusion assessments for buildings withj special characteristics. The challenges and knowledge gaps associated with flux chambers are also discuss.
