Vapor Intrusion

GSI is a leader in vapor intrusion assessment, site management, and research and development. Supported by over $1.5 million in research funding from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and other organizations, we have developed and validated a variety of methods to address vapor intrusion’s most challenging problems including distinguishing between vapor intrusion and indoor sources of VOCs and evaluating preferential pathways for vapor intrusion. GSI offers a full range of services with special expertise in indoor air testing, VOC source identification, and investigation and mitigation to facilitate brownfield redevelopment.

Site Characterization

GSI helps clients effectively manage the complex regulations, technical challenges, and potential liabilities associated with vapor intrusion.  Our data-driven approach to site characterization emphasizes differentiation of potential subsurface and indoor vapor sources, evaluation of chemical fate and transport, and human health exposure risk.

Mitigation and Brownfield Redevelopment

GSI works with private and public-sector clients to provide innovative strategies for redevelopment sites. We work closely with our clients to identify and manage the environmental risks and costs associated with ownership and future property use, develop strategies to reach cost-effective regulatory closure, and ultimately achieve redevelopment goals.

Strategic planning

GSI conducts third-party technical reviews to support real estate transactions.  We have also developed prioritization strategies to focus VI assessment and mitigation efforts for clients with large portfolios of properties.
